Just added to our Wedding Ceremony Music repertoire is the main theme from the movie “The Great Beauty.”
The Italian movie that won the Academy Award in 2014 for Best Foreign Language Film, “La Grande Bellezza” has a beautiful theme and a very diverse soundtrack.
With abundant party scenes and wild Roman nights, the film ends with a long point-of-view shot photographed from a boat chugging up Rome’s Tiber River. It’s a beautiful journey, very simple. Or it wouldn’t be, if not for the music accompanying the image.
In the movie’s closing shot, the director Paolo Sorrentino uses in its five-minute entirety “The Beatitudes” by contemporary Russian composer Vladimir Martynov. It was written in 1998 as a choral piece. The Kronos Quartet commissioned a string arrangement of the music in 2006. Nonesuch Records released the Kronos offering “Music of Vladimir Martynov” last year.
One film critic characterized the experience of listening to Martynov’s “Beatitudes” as being “tortured by beauty.” I know what he meant; It was reported that at the close of the film’s Cannes premiere, an astonishing number of people sat, or stood, transfixed, straight through to the end, even with deadlines to meet or parties to attend (this was close to midnight). The end-credits music chosen by Sorrentino was too beautiful to miss. ~ Michael Taylor
Our String Ensembles regularly are asked to write musical arrangements that are not available for purchase. Overtime, we have amassed one of the largest music libraries of Classical, Popular Love Songs, Rock Ballads, Top 40 Songs, Film Themes & Movie Soundtracks ~ all arranged for various trios, quartets and larger ensembles that perform for wedding ceremonies.

Superbowl HalfTime Show Bruno Mars has 5 Favorite Wedding Songs
The Top 5 Bruno Mars Songs for weddings and when we have been asked to perform them:
1. Processional- “Marry You” (Instrumental)
2. Couple Entrance – “Treasure”
The “Treasure” chorus with lyrics like “I know you can make my wish come true if you let me treasure you” is fantastic for your first appearance as Mr & Mrs. It sets the tone for a fun-filled reception full of dancing, while reminding everyone of the special love you share.
3. First Dance – “Rest of My Life”
4. Father/Daughter Dance - “Count on Me”
5. Cake Cutting/Last Song – “Just the Way You Are”
You can’t have a wedding without “Just the Way You Are.” Always a crowd-pleaser, this beautiful tune can work well for the cake-cutting ceremony or as the last song of the night.

Star Talent All Stars Band performed the wedding reception music at the landmark Central Park Boathouse in New York City.
I just wanted to write you a quick note to say thanks. To put it simply, the band was PHENOMENAL. We loved them. The guests loved them. Their timing and song selection were perfect. They read the crowd and just kept things going perfectly. The highlight of the wedding for me was looking over at the dance floor around 11pm when Caroline and I were grabbing a moment of peace off to the side and the entire dance floor was packed and going nuts.
If there is a preferred site you have for reviews, please let me know. I would recommend you guys to anyone.

What is the general rule when allocating space for a dance band?
Dance Bands typically need a stage, performance area or floor space of approximately 20′ wide x 12′ deep as a general rule. Some bands if told of space constrictions ahead of time can make equipment choices that would take up a little less room as well.
Jazz Trio on Stage
Jazz Ensembles or Acoustic Trios or Quartets may be able to fit in a space
12′ wide x 10′ deep or a bit smaller. Variations would depend on the use of an electric keyboard, or an acoustic upright or baby grand piano. Also if the ensemble includes a drummer, ( needs 6′ x 6′ for small drum set) or if there is the need to set up a sound system and microphones.
String Quartet a 10′ x 10′ square is fine. Usually 4 chairs set in a square arrangement are needed from the venue. It’s a compact group but allowances are made for lighted music stands and if needed, microphones and stands.
Stage for Large Dance Band
Larger Dance Bands of 10 or 12 pieces or more may need 24′ wide x 16′ deep or larger. Typically bands of this size will have a larger sound board and need a larger “mixing area.” This can be placed on either side of the bandstand or along the wall opposite the stage. This is known as a mixing position in the “front of the house.” Not every venue wants the mix position to be out in the room with the guests and remember there is a fair amount of cable that would be run to that position from the band stand.
We will always find ways of accommodating special circumstances… really all we ask is that we are told ahead of time so we can prepare.
